I've been using Mint since October, and have been massively impressed with it. It looks great, has fantastic plugin support for developers, and works (which is always a bonus).
Recently a new version was released, but it wasn't until today that I thought I'd upgrade. In an uncharacteristically foolhardy fashion, I neglected to backup my Mint database before hand, and, in a characteristically typical fashion, my upgrade failed. Bye, bye Mint database. It appears that due to some sort of cookie problem (that I've only figured out AFTER blatting my entire database) the upgrade process didn't run correctly. Oh well.
While on the subject of Mint (and while rounding them all up) here are my favourite Peppers (Mint plugins):
Search Engine Spiders (not yet finished)
And, finally, a handy homepage for Pepper updates can be found here: http://massiveblue.net/pepperminttea
So, in the end, did you get it to work again? What about that cookie? Me too, have been using mint since october, and just recently upgraded. Now I don’t get any updates anymore, while I know I did get visitors (though google analytics). I love mint, and its peppers, I want it to get working again.
I’m happy to say I did get it going. I lost my stats, but that’s the price I pay for not backing things up!
I had to delete the tables in my database, delete the mint files, and reupload and recreate the database. Then I made sure the base install was working, and added each pepper back in, one at a time. I left off two peppers, because I didn’t see them as particularly valuable for my site – Freshview and Sparks, I believe. One thing I did notice is that if a certain pepper breaks things, sometimes removing that pepper isn’t enough to fix everything.
I suggest trying that – blow everything away, delete your cookies, reinstall and see if the base install works.
One last thing – you did update the javascript didn’t you? Mint uses a different format for 1.2 than previous versions did (ie, it doesn’t reference a .js file anymore).
Let me know if you need more help. The Mint forums are really useful too.
Aha, it uses a different js? No i didn’t update the mint includes!
Thanks, I’ll check that out first. (should have gone all the way through the README file, it says to rename to /mint/?js)
