A couple of snippets from Bloody Disgusting:

Pumpkinhead 3 is currently in production! Why should you be excited about another straight to cable sequel? Because this one stars Lance Henriksen (who starred in the original, not to mention numerous other excellent, and not so excellent genre features) and Doug Bradley (the mighty Pinhead himself). Not only that, but it appears that Jake West is directing; West previously brought us Razorblade Smile (which did the leather-clad vampire thing before Underworld, but isn't quite a decent film) and Evil Aliens (which I've not seen yet, but has been described as The British Braindead). It'll be interesting to see what West does with this – Pumpkinhead is a brilliant creature, and the original is a great old-school creature-feature, but West has a reputation for cheesy, tongue-in-cheek splatter.

Also, it looks like the Freddy Krueger origin movie is going to happen. Normally I'd say this was a bad idea, but given that Robert Englund is in place, and that John McNaughton is now on board to direct, this could be pretty good. The origin sections in Freddy Vs Jason were nicely done, so I have hopes for nice, disturbing origin movie for everyone's favourite dream-demon. Freddy is, after all, a deeply unpleasant character, and who better to direct than the man who brought us Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer!
