First off, the film was bland. The movie was a poor adaptation and didn't center on what fans of Silent Hill liked about Silent Hill, cryptic storyline. So, IAN, I know its cool to bad mouth "stupid Americans" from your adobe toilet hut in Mexico. So please, let people who like America and don't believe in stupid stereotypes do the talking, and you still need to get your butt over here and mow my lawn you damned Mexican burrito.

I'm a big Mr Bean fan. If Rowan Atkinson had played the husband's role we may have got something more bearable than Sean Bean's attempt. Note to producers everywhere : when you ask an english actor "can you do an american accent?" don't just take yes for an answer - listen to it first. Cider House Rules anyone? Still even The Worst Attempt At An American Accent Ever can't derail an excellent effort (thank god he's got minimal screen time).
Still I should thank Sean Bean for enlightening me as to the origins of Tolkien's residents of Gondor - that's where all the Yorkshire miners moved to after the collapse of the coal indistry.

Avary’s script is definitely the weak (or weakest) link here and it’s to Gans’ credit that he manages to make such an enjoyable film from it. Apart from the terrible exposition at the end, presumably so the Americans will understand it as most of it had already been explained, there was some very clunky dialogue.
The fact that the film seemed nowhere near its 2 hour running time says a lot for how entertaining it was.

And I didn’t think Mr Bean was that bad…..
