Unfortunately, I have yet to encounter a magical "gentle health person".
I would encourage people to be optimistic, but practicality encourages me not to delude anyone.

An ear-nose-throat doctor told me that once you have swimmer's ear

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/swimmers-ear/ds00473

you never really get over it, and you are likely to have recurrences throughout your lifetime. The important thing is to catch it early. Don't let it go for lack of insurance or lack of money because it can turn into a life-threatening situation. Getting it treated early is the cheapest thing to do in the long run before it turns into something serious which will require you to be hospitalized and/or have surgery.

I just got my earwick out today and i was hoping someone could tell me how long it takes for the normal"ness" to come back. It felt like I could hear again at first when he pulled it out and then it just shut back up again. My face is no longer swollen and the pain is all but gone. I have a week left on my Cipro Otic H drops and Augmentin. He said to leave it open so it could air out also. Whenever I chew, yawn, or blow my nose it makes a popping noise but it doesn't open. Did this happen to any of you?

I feel your pain. I currently have an ear wick in place due to an ear infection. I did not get the immediate relief that you felt with the release of the pressure. But I am on day two now and at least you can see that I have an ear on the side of my face. My face was so swollen that it was hard to see where the ear started at. I am feeling much better as well. Do you have any advice as to how long you had to leave your ear wick in? My doctors said that it would fall out when it was ready, but I was just wondering about how long that would be.
